Who we are

The study

Specialization
Studio Sanguanini has specialized in the restoration of ancient and modern works of art for over fifty years. It operates in the field of conservation of cultural heritage for public and ecclesiastical bodies, museums, antique dealers and private collectors.

It deals with the restoration of paintings on canvas, on wood, wooden works, gilding, wax works and conservation of mural paintings. It collaborates mainly with the Superintendencies of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Cremona, Mantua and Lodi, Parma and Piacenza, Bergamo and Brescia.

Skills
In addition to classic restoration techniques, he carries out innovative interventions such as the regeneration of the canvas support and the consolidation of the pictorial film without the use of lining through the use of low-pressure thermal board and strip lining.

It carries out cleaning interventions on painted surfaces using innovative methodologies and reintegration interventions with a recognisable tonal-based technique.

Analyses

The long years of experience and the collaboration with external technicians have allowed Studio Sanguanini to deepen its knowledge of the main diagnostic analyses to carry out timely technical assessments.

The Studio carries out its activity in compliance with the works of art with the logic of preventive conservation and minimal intervention.

Curriculum

After graduating from high school in applied art, in 1996 he awarded the diploma of Art conservation and maintenance operator, issued by the Santa Paola Institutes of Mantua. In 1997 he was commissioned by the Municipality of Cremona to collaborate on the restoration and maintenance of the GB Crespi canvas known as "Cerano" and 50 other works by various artists including GB Natali, G. Zocchi, F. Boselli and M. Caffi exhibited at the Ala-Ponzone Civic Museum of Cremona. He collaborated on the restoration and appraisal of the painting by Tiziano Vecellio preserved in Palazzo Te in Mantua depicting "Portrait of Giulio Romano". Since 1998 he has worked as a restorer at the Restoration Studio run by Father Dario Sanguanini and has been its owner since 2007. In 2005 he was commissioned to restore the wax funeral masks of the saints Capitanio and Gerosa of the Monastery of S. Chiara di Lovere. In 2009 he was commissioned to carry out the restoration and diagnostic investigations on the Gonzaga wooden complex of the equestrian statues of the Palazzo Ducale in Sabbioneta - Mantua. He constantly collaborates with the Rotary Club and Lions Club for the conservation of local works of art and takes care of the maintenance of works for museums and private collections. In 2021 he received the qualification certificate of restorer of cultural heritage issued by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.

Among the numerous restored works are the names of famous artists such as Tiziano Vecellio, Lorenzo Lotto, Genovesino, Nuvolone, Galeazzo Campi, Karl Santner, Malosso, Cerano, Salvator Rosa, Luca Giordano, Giacomo Bertesi, Marcantonio Ghislina, Tranquillo Cremona, Giuseppe Bertini, Antonio Fontanesi, Lev Lagorio, Arturo Tosi, Filippo De Pisis and Aligi Sassu.
